Newcastle 59, Westbrook 37

The Newcastle small forward scored a game high 32 points to lead Newcastle over Westbrook, 59-37, punching their ticket to the program’s first ever state title game.

In her scoring efforts, Dollar tied for third in state tournament scoring history as she now look to aid the team to take home their maiden state title game.

Defense has been a key focal point for any Ryan Dollar coached team and it showed with the Ladycats forcing 14 turnovers and scoring 15 points from the extra possessions.

Turkey Valley 54, Neches 41

Rebounding was a key point for the Lady Patriots with their size and length advantage and it showed.

The Lady Patriots scored 15 second chance points off of 13 offensive boards to pave the way for their second state tournament title game appearance since 1973.

Facing a 43-33 deficit entering the final frame of play, Neches attempted to find a way back in game, starting the fourth quarter on a 8-2 run.

Since then, the ball would not find a way to get in the basket.

The Lady Tigers failed to score in the final 5:30 of the game, giving Valley a 9-0 to close the game with a tough layup from Jaydan Bagwell that sealed the Lady Patriots victory.

For Neches, it is frustration for their fourth straight state tournament appearance and coming up empty-handed once again.
