Farwell 43, Christoval 26

The offense for the Lady Blue has been one of the most explosive offenses in 2A.

On Friday, it showed.

The Lady Blue stormed to a fast 23-3 lead after a quarter and a half of play en route to a 43-26 victory over Christoval in the first 2A Region I semifinal.

For the Lady Blue, it marks their first regional final appearance since 2000, a season where Farwell won state.

Christoval were overwhelmed for the first half in breaking down the full-court pressure of Farwell and struggled to bring the ball up-court in key turnovers that snowballed into extra points for the Farwell offense.

The Lady Cougars managed to cut the 20-point deficit down to 10 at the halftime break with a 11-1 run to close the second quarter.

The Lady Blue press returned in the fourth and allowed the Lady Blue to give the extra push defensively for a second regional final appearance in 24 years.

Wellington 48, New Home 35

Physicality has been a plus side for the Lady Rockets this year and has given the defense an edge in matchups as of late.

The Wellington defense did its part in a 48-35 victory with senior forward Charley Wilbur leading all scorers with 27 points.

With the win, Wellington return to the regional final for the third time in four years.

Angelo State commit Addy Burns led New Home with 16 points.

New Home cut the deficit down to six with a Peyton Connor three that gave momentum to the Lady Leopards in the half-way stage of the final quarter.

Later, hope for a New Home victory quickly deflated after a key intentional foul was called, sending Kane to the line and converting the pair of free throws in the key push that the Lady Rockets rode in order to get the tough victory.

Tip for the 2A Region I final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Texan Dome in Levelland.
