The highly-touted recruit of Jasmine Shavers led Horn to two victories over Flower Mound, Richardson and Rowlett to go 3-0 on the week and finding themselves state-ranked for the first time this season.

Lubbock Cooper

It was a team effort on Friday, as the former top-ranked team in the state Canyon came to town and used the offensive efforts from Avrie Douglas, Autumn Moore and a solid post presence in Hannah Zientek to pave the way for the Lady Pirates first signature win of the season.

Brownsboro

The Bearettes picked up a huge victory over top-five opposition in Winnsboro and backed it up with a big win over 6A North Mesquite to remain perfect on the year and putting East Texas on notice.

Canadian

Adding two victories in two days is tough for any team, especially against tough opponents. The Lady Cats flexed their muscle with a pair of wins over Plainview and Wichita Falls Rider to improve their resume and put the state on notice.

Port Aransas

The Lady Marlins slowed down a confident Premont team on Friday, improving Port Aransas to 4-1 on the season.

Borden County

Dropping 100 or more points is rare in girls basketball. On Saturday, the Lady Coyotes did just that, scoring 102 points in a rout over Ralls for a 2-0 record to their name.

Austin Hyde Park

Hyde Park picked up two district victories to start out league play in 3-5A, and saw the Lady Panthers rise in the TXHSGBB rankings.

Week 2

6A: Jersey Village

Picking up a huge victory over perennial power Fort Bend Hightower, the Lady Falcons, under new coach Patricia Lewandowski continued the momentum from last Tuesday with a big win over Humble to improve to 4-0 on the young season.

5A: Comal Canyon

The week was highlighted by picking up a key win at home against regional power Austin Westlake as the Cougarettes earn their first signature victory on the year as Comal Canyon improve to 2-0.

4A: Hardin-Jefferson

Led by the highly touted recruit in Ashlon Jackson, who paced the Lady Hawks with 19 points in a win over Bridge City for a 3-0 start for the 2019 state finalists.

3A: Bishop

The Lady Badgers carried momentum from a tough victory over Skidmore-Tynan to top Odem and 4A Robstown over the weekend to have Bishop inside the top 20 in the TXHSGBB poll and a perfect record to the season in what could be a big year for the Lady Badgers.

2A: Lipan

A statement was made on Tuesday, with Lipan making a long road trip to Ben Wheeler to top state power Martin’s Mill, 57-40. The week ended with two more victories over Midlothian Heritage and Cleburne for a 3-0 start in a new classification for the state perennial power program.

1A: Sands

The Lady Mustangs picked up a key victory on Saturday, punching up three weight classes as they topped a tough squad in Midland Greenwood to stay unbeaten early in the season.
